International Night Markets 2009!

Hey good afternoon guys, Johnni here just sending his love about the International night Markets that took place on 26th of August, Wednesday night
What is international night market? Well let me explain that a bit further for those who are lost =], It’s an event that ARC, the student union body organises and allows clubs to display and sell food (or in other instances “unperishable” goods).

Captain Yuki and the rest of us went out the night before to prepare for the Markets. On the menu we had Vegetarian/ Chicken Yakisoba and assorted Flavours of Onigiri! Muahaha oh yeah don’t forget the miso soups =]. So it was pretty hectic for the committee members, running around like crazy across the city gathering ingredients and stocking it at Aivy’s house like chipmunks and their nuts. Setup was the next day at 1 pm, I wasn’t available at the time because I had class, but according to Captain Yuki, it wasn’t anything special really because we had to wait a while until like Taka (NSA chef No.1) came to cook yakisoba but we only had rice cooker so we tested onigiri and they failed. You don’t have to write that. Hhahhahahahaha

One thing we were blessed with was Gavin’s presence (NSA No.2 Chef, Choreographer) his family owns restaurants so he had all this equipments and stuff we could use which he brought to the stall in his granny trolley =D. He also designed the NSA menu for the night which was hugely successful in displaying the appropriate prices and stuff. It was windy and hard to setup so really most of the time we just waited around. The committee decided to start wearing NSA official work gear (consisted of our blue soccer jerseys, Nippon headbands and hyaku yen yukatas =P).
When the party arrived (aka me) straight away I got into my work gear and started snapping up photos for NSA’s site. The night was pretty successful, we had so many orders for Onigiri and yakisoba, and our promoter girls (Aivy, Alice, Annabel, Miki, Jessica, Ellen, Evelyn) did extremely well to entice customers to our stall shouting out irasshaimase!! (Including enticing our other committee member, NSA’s lawyer Rachel). It was a pretty hectic night for me trying to juggle preparing ingredients for Taka and snapping up crucial moments of the night =]. And let’s not forget Annabel’s secret rendezvous ;) but that’s another story muahah xD. Then last and not least, the man, the legend, Mike our marketer arrived as the final support.
Finally, it was all over by 9pm. The clubs cleared their own respective clubs, including ourselves too. After it was all cleared (the other clubs left) we stayed in our stall, sitting down in a circle reminiscing the day’s work, enjoying a drink or two. Otukaresamadeshita!
